The most commonly recommended device historically for Carpal Tunnel Treatment has been what has come to be known as the Cock-Up Splint. Muscular skeletal research on the efficacy of these carpal tunnel wrist splints is mixed at best with some nagging issues that need to be addressed. Many carpal tunnel syndrome sufferers resort to wearing rigid splints if for no other reason than they are in desperation and need to try something that might help them sleep and work. Most Doctors when pressed will admit that the rigid orthotics and splints like the Cock-up Splints are not therapeutic and often actually worsen repetitive stress conditions, like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Most medical professionals that work with Carpal Tunnel patients know that immobilizing splints are not an effective treatment for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Some will just skip the rigid splints step and refer people straight to carpal tunnel surgery. The rigid devices do provide some relief from pain that may result from movement, but offer no therapeutic benefit and often complicate CTS symptoms over time with hand and forearm muscle atrophy.

ROC Niagara 2019
The objective of the study was to compare the effects of the volar wrist cock-up splint and the ulnar gutter splint on three dependent measures: level of comfort, pain relief and hand function, in clients with early symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Four clients with initial onset of carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms participated in a study with alternating treatment design that compared the effects of the two splints. Comfort and pain were measured with perceived analogue scales and hand function was assessed using six sub-tests of the Jebsen Hand Function test. Evaluations were done every 2 weeks concurrent with the alternation of the splints for a period of 8 weeks.

The Cock-Up Wrist Brace provides comfortable support and compression to help relieve pain and discomfort for weak, aching, or injured wrists. A removable palmar spoon supports the wrist in a "cocked up" position. By design, the palmar spoon is malleable, allowing for a custom fit based on positioning need. The low profile, bilateral form contours to the natural shape of the left or right wrist and hand for increased comfort and support. Instructions of Use: Step 1: Open the brace and lay it with curved support on a flat surface.
